ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a progressive neuromuscular disease in which nerve cells die and leave voluntary muscles paralyzed. Every day two or three Canadians die of the disease. Read more about ALS.
As part of raising awareness for ALS, there was an annual WALK for ALS this past weekend. It is the largest fundraiser for the ALS societies across Canada. Our own WTSS staff member, Nadia Hassan, participated again this year and was able to fundraise almost $600.00! Great work for a good cause!
All money from ALS walks across the country go toward raising awareness of the disease, supporting those that have ALS and investing into research. ALS research plays a pivotal role so that the future of this disease can be changed from a terminal one, to a treatable one.
