As many of you know, Toronto will be hosting the 2015 Pan Am and Para Am Games this summer. Because the Games will include over 7,500 athletes and 1.4 million spectators, they may have an impact on traffic in the city and your neighbourhood. Please be sure to review this article so that you are best able to plan ahead and get where you need to go with your community transportation provider, Toronto Ride, in July and August.
During the Pan Am Games and in the weeks leading up to the Games, temporary parking and turn restrictions will be put in place on certain streets which may have an impact on traffic flow in the downtown core and central west Toronto. This means that it may take longer to get to your appointment, particularly if the destination is within the downtown area or in the vicinity of one of the Games’ venues.
During weeks of July 13th and 20th (Pan Am Games) and the week of August 10th (Parapan Am Games) athletes will be training and events will be taking place at the Ryerson Athletic Complex (former Maple Leaf Gardens), Varsity Stadium and the Pam Am Fields located at University of Toronto’s St. George Campus. Athletes will need to be transported to these events and the public will be attending as spectators which will result in additional traffic congestion.
Toronto Ride is committed to continuing to provide you with high quality transportation service across Toronto. If at all possible we highly recommend that you avoid booking important appointments in the downtown core (or in the vicinity of one of the venues) during these three weeks. If it is a mandatory appointment that cannot be rescheduled, please be sure that you allow for additional travel time by giving an earlier appointment time when making your booking. Call Toronto Ride as soon as you can at (416) 481-5250 if you need to allow for additional travel time.
