Our Adult Day Service (ADS) provides social and recreational activities in an environment that is responsive to the needs of individuals who are cognitively impaired, frail or physically disabled. We have a strong and dedicated team that is full of positive energy. We are pleased to announce the latest addition to our WTSS ADS Family – Ella!
As experts in our field, we know the value of Therapy Dogs. Therapy Dogs routinely offer comfort and companionship in senior residences and care facilities. “I know many of our clients love dogs but are unable to have one because they cannot take care of one full time”, says Lauren Caba, ADS Programmer at WTSS, “I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to bring my puppy into work with me. West Toronto has given me an incredible opportunity to bring both my love of working with seniors and love of animals together. I love seeing everyone’s smiles.”
Here are just some of the benefits that our new puppy provides:
- Greater social engagement with ours clients talking more, participating more in activities, and smiling more
- Stress relief and distraction from pain
- Comfort and calming
“In the future I plan on training Ella and getting her certified as a therapy dog, until then she is having the best socialization experience a pup could ask for”, Lauren.
