Delivering Meals benefits Volunteers too #NVW2016

Lisa Merchant says delivering meals to older adults as a Driver is a satisfying role and will make you feel better.  It’s wise to listen to someone who has been a regular part of West Toronto Support Services.  Fifteen years ago, she came across an ad at Emmanuel-Howard Park United Church advertising new drivers and she’s still a regular part of our delivery team today!

In that time she’s seen lots of changes as the agency has grown and changed locations. She enjoys saying ‘Hi’ to clients, seeing how they’re doing and having a brief chat before she’s off to the next destination.  Her volunteer delivery partner at WTSS has also been with the agency for a long time and she recounts the many conversations they’ve had. Lisa recounts the clients she has helped in her time as a volunteer and always takes inspiration from those who may be less fortunate but maintain a positive outlook in life.  Reaching those isolated individuals and bringing some happiness into their lives, however small, makes the role a rewarding one.

Thank you Lisa for all your time in helping our agency. She still manages to fit us in between her profession as an Actor and Improviser.  Meals on Wheels is an important service that delivers nutritional lunches and fresh produce to your home.

You can become part of our team as well!
