The #CommunitySupportStories initiative driven by the Ontario Community Support Association @OCSAtweets

We are sure you have noticed that October is Community Support Month, an opportunity to celebrate the services which help seniors and people with disabilities live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. The #CommunitySupportStories initiative is driven by the Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA) and WTSS is a proud member of the OCSA so we are very ready to spread the word!

The first step is to know a little bit more about the OCSA – champions of a strong, sustainable home and community support sector for all Ontarians. So here are some important facts:

  1. OCSA is the voice of home and community support, representing hundreds of agencies, 25,000 staff and 100,000 volunteers across Ontario.
  2. They work with members to ensure that issues which affect community services are heard and addressed by government policy makers, other health organizations, the media and the general public.
  3. OCSA has shaped community health care in Ontario through the development of an approved curriculum for training community health workers and service standards for the province. Learn more here.
